How to Measure

Unlike traditional wallpaper, which can be measured in standard rolls, our custom wallpaper is printed to fit the specific size of your wall with a seamlessly repeating pattern. Our wallpaper is heavy weight and is suitable for both residential and commercial applications: it is of the highest quality. Our wallpaper is printed to order on 4-foot-wide panels so that large prints repeat seamlessly.

Step 1: Measure the Width of Your Wall, Determine the Width Needed

Measure your wall width in feet, rounding up to the next higher 4-foot section. So if your wall is 6-feet, 4-inches wide, round up to 8-feet.

Installation:

Handling

Consult with and use a professional paperhanger. The wallpaper may be handled in the same manner as vinyl coated paper. Do not use tape on image surfaces.

Pastes

Use a heavy-duty vinyl adhesive, such as ICI Ultra Heavy Duty Clear 22643 or Rowan Professional Heavy Duty Clear Pro 838. Test the thickness of the paste and if necessary thin down a bit with water, being careful not to add too much water as to impede the tact of the adhesive. Clay-based pastes are not recommended as they are too thick and dry too quickly.

Wall Preparation

Make sure surfaces are smooth, clean and dry prior to application. Lightly sand the walls and make any necessary repairs to cracks, etc. Always seal the wall with a primer-sealer. It is suggested that an oil-based primer sealer be applied, such as Cover Stain by Zinsser. Oil-based primers not only seal the wall, they help to give the installer more "wet time" to work with and smooth out the panels, as well as to allow for easy removal. Should an oil-based primer not be available then an acrylic substitute such as Bulls Eye 123 by Zinsser will be fine.

Wallpaper Preparation

Pre-wet with a damp sponge or spritz water on the back of the wallpaper lightly prior to applying paste. Don't book panels for 5-10 minutes. It is suggested to apply a thin coat of adhesive on the wall, especially where the seams will meet. This allows the installer extra time to double-cut the panels before the edges start to dry. Apply adhesive evenly to the back of the wallpaper. Book the wallpaper for 5-8 minutes. Expect booking time to expand wallpaper panels 1/4" to 1/2" depending on room temperature and paste thickness.

Hanging

Hang wallpaper panels using standard procedures. Line up mural panels in order. Level the first panel to insure a straight line and proper pattern match. Use a smoothing brush or plastic squeegee to lay down panels. Smooth out air pockets. If persistent bubbles don't go away, simply pop with a pin. Do not overwork the panels as this could cause tearing of the wallpaper. Trim the top and bottom of the panel. With clean water and a sponge, wipe down the wallpaper panel and dry with a towel. Avoid aggressive rubbing.

Cutting

These wallpaper panels need to be double-cut at the seams as they come with a selvage edge. Overlap the panels along the pattern match and double-cut. Remove cut selvage edges gently and roll down seam. Never over-roll the seams as this could take the color off. Overlapping the seams and not double-cutting is not recommended.

Cleaning

For dust, dirt and grease, clean with a damp cloth or sponge; use water sparingly and do not get them wet. Make a solution of a hand dish washing liquid and cool water in one bucket, and cool rinse water in a second bucket.

Clean the walls from the bottom up, very gently wiping overlapping areas in circular motion, first with a damp sudsy sponge, then with a damp rinsing sponge. Pat gently with a clean soft cloth or bath towel to remove any surface moisture. If any area has to be re-washed to remove soil, let it dry completely before washing again. Avoid aggressive rubbing. Do not use cleaners with harsh solvents that damage plastic finishes. Remove residual cleaning solutions with a dry cloth.
